My approach stems from the principles of RIE. It is a respect based approach that focuses on understanding your child and yourself better. In using these principals as a guide, parents are able to help their children become confident, aware and active participants in the world around them. My hope is that parents walk away from this experience with the tools they need to build a successful and enjoyable relationship with their children regardless of the stage of life they are experiencing.

I was first introduced to my specialty when I was running an infant program at a private school. From that stemmed an interest in seeing how this approach could be expanded to other ages and aspects of life. Respect based parenting and interactions provides a guideline that can be applied in all situations rather than just addressing specific issues. While we will always be discussing individual circumstances, it is my hope that the skills learned will aid in all aspects of life.

Parents who choose me as their Parent Instructor should be looking to improve their relationship with their child. They may be struggling with every day interactions like separating from their child, difficulty with diaper changes or feeding times. Their goals will be to better understand their child and in turn improve the interactions they have together through guidance based on respect for the child and for themself.
